Research types

Field and hydrodynamic studies of wells

Modern scientific technology for the development of oil and gas fields is based on a comprehensive and detailed study of the properties of productive formations and the liquids and gases contained in them, as well as the study of complex processes occurring in the formations during their operation.

Exploration of deposits begins from the moment they are discovered and continues until the full development of recoverable oil and gas reserves. The information obtained is used to design, control and regulate field development systems, which ensures the required pace and degree of reserves development at minimal cost.

One of the most important sources of information is hydrodynamic (field) studies of reservoirs and wells. The improvement of oil field development systems is associated with the measures used in the fields to intensify oil production. Field studies of wells and reservoirs are therefore becoming increasingly important as a tool for evaluating the effectiveness of the measures taken.

During the operation of reservoirs and wells, studies are carried out mainly by hydrodynamic methods, while specifying the characteristics of the reservoirs and the effectiveness of measures to influence the bottomhole formation zone in wells.

One of the important areas in the activity of an oil and gas producing enterprise is the performance of work to increase or restore well productivity, such as:

· increase in perforated effective power;

· increase in reservoir permeability (fracturing, BHP treatment by various methods);

· increase in reservoir pressure;

· reduction of bottomhole pressure;

Reducing the viscosity of formation fluid;

· an increase in the reduced radius of the well (the higher the degree of opening of the formation, the more complete the connection of wells with the formation in the opened interval).

However, the chosen method must meet the following requirements:

· do not violate the conditions for the rational exploitation of the deposit as a whole and the rules for the protection of subsoil;

· in comparison with other methods allowing to obtain the same technological effect (increase in debit), it should be the most economical.

All methods of hydrodynamic research used in field practice are divided into two groups: the method of steady flow and the method of pressure recovery.

The steady-state sampling method is used in production and injection wells. It is most effective in wells operated with ESP. The essence of the method is to establish a relationship between flow rate and bottomhole pressure (BHP) by means of field measurements. The optimal research process is in three modes, when measuring the annular pressure with an interval of 1 day.

The initial mode is the existing mode for a given period, the flow rate, NDIN, RBUF, RZAT, RLIN are measured, a sample is taken for the percentage of water content, if necessary, the gas factor (GOR) is measured. Each subsequent mode should differ from the previous one by 10-20%

Based on these measurements, an indicator curve is built (dependence between well flow rate and bottom hole pressure) to determine the well productivity factor and current reservoir pressure. The data obtained are used in the calculation of the permeability coefficient and other hydrodynamic characteristics of the formation.

In injection wells, pressure and injectivity are recorded during the study, and each subsequent pressure value must be greater than the previous one.

Before the study, the well is templated to a depth greater than the tool will be lowered. The bottom of the tubing must be equipped with a funnel. Not earlier than two days before carrying out deep surveys at the flowing well, it is necessary to carry out hot flushing of the ADP well to ensure the normal passage of the instruments.

Depth gauge studies are more valuable than reading levels, because are a direct method for determining reservoir and bottomhole pressures and therefore carry fewer errors.

· Based on the results of deep measurements of reservoir pressure and measurements of the static level (from which reservoir pressures are calculated), maps of isobars are built. The main purpose of the maps is to control the energy state of oil deposits. The frequency of updating data for reservoirs that have been in development for a long time is once every six months, for other reservoirs - quarterly.

Isobar maps can be used to calculate the density of the killing fluid, but not later than 2 months from the moment the map was created. In the future, for these purposes, it is necessary to measure the static level (reservoir pressure) immediately before the workover of the well.

Reservoir pressure control is carried out by a depth gauge in piezometric wells, which must be equipped with a lubricator and a research site.

Experience has shown that the time to restore pressure in shut-in wells, depending on the reservoir and filtration properties of the formation, is different.

The second well research method is the transient filtration method.

In flowing wells, bottomhole pressure is measured with a depth gauge, well flow rate, formation permeability, piezoconductivity, hydraulic conductivity, productivity factor and hydrodynamic perfection are determined by calculation.

For mechanized wells, a level recovery curve (CLC) is taken. Qualitative information is obtained under the condition that the level rises from the depth of the descent of the pump to the wellhead.

The research technology is as follows: after measuring the dynamic level, the well is stopped and the levels are beaten off after 5, 15, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 3 hours, 24 hours and then every day until the level stabilizes.

Each well 1 time during the period of operation should be tested by the method of transient filtration, as this helps to evaluate the effectiveness of the methods used to influence the formation.

The KPI (pressure drop curve) method is one of the injection well survey methods, and is also a transient mode method. When taking the efficiency factor, it is necessary to know the injectivity of the well, because it participates in calculations to determine the permeability of the reservoir and the bottomhole zone.

The technology is as follows: the working buffer pressure is determined, then the well is closed and the buffer pressure drop is monitored with a time interval of 5, 10, 20, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 4 hours, 24 hours and every day until RBUF = 0.

When calculating the efficiency, the following parameters are determined: reservoir pressure, productivity factor, permeability coefficient of the remote zone of the reservoir and the bottomhole zone, the latter allows to judge the need for treatments of the bottomhole zone of the reservoir, and also reflects the effectiveness of the measures taken.

To measure the gas factor, the SIBNIINP device is used, which is connected to a linear branch pipe for sampling the liquid.

Key parameters measured and calculated during well testing:

· static level (Нst) - stabilized liquid level in a stopped well, at a measured value of annular pressure. The annular valve must be closed when beating Nst;

· dynamic level (Нdyn) - liquid level in a working well;

· formation pressure (Ppl) - pressure at the bottom of a shut-in well, analogue of NST;

bottomhole pressure (Рzab) - pressure at the bottom of a working well, analogue of Нdin;

· productivity factor (KPROD) - a parameter that characterizes the production capabilities of the well. Unit is t/day atm. Physical meaning - increase in well flow rate (t / day) with a decrease in bottomhole pressure by one atmosphere;

· coefficient of hydraulic conductivity (e = k·h/m) - a complex parameter that takes into account the influence of the reservoir properties of the reservoir and fluids on the flow rate (injectivity) of wells. There is a direct relationship between hydraulic conductivity and production rate (injectivity).

Here k is the permeability, h is the reservoir thickness, m is the fluid viscosity;

· coefficient of piezoconductivity (c) - characterizes the transmission speed of the pressure wave, i.e. determines the degree of interaction of wells when creating a disturbance (organization of injection, shutdown or start-up of wells, forcing production, etc.). Dimension - cm 2 / sec.

Well logging

Well logging (logging) plays an important role in the field development process. Production geophysics methods allow solving several problems:

1. Control over the development and production of reserves. At the same time, the residual and current oil and gas saturation of productive horizons are determined, the process of waterflooding, the development of reserves in the reservoir is monitored. This allows us to draw conclusions about the position of water-oil and gas-oil contacts. Control over the movement of water-oil contact and gas-oil contact during the development of deposits is carried out by the following methods:

· pulsed neutron-neutron logging (PNL) in control (non-perforated) wells;

· thermometry;

· thermal neutron logging (NKT-50).

According to the position of WOC and GOC determined by these methods, refined contours of oil and gas potential are established.

2. Control over the technical condition and operation of wells is carried out to determine the serviceability and tightness of production strings, clarify the position of perforation intervals, current bottomhole, annular circulation and places of water and gas inflow into the well, as well as to assess the quality of cement behind the string. For this, radioactive methods are used (GC, tubing); temperature logging, noise logging, flow meter, acoustic cement meter (AKC), coupling locator. In addition, other instruments and methods are used to monitor the operation and condition of production and injection wells.

3. Elimination of accidents during the operation and repair of wells:

· elimination of paraffin and hydrate plugs (electrical heating);

· Determination of the place of sticking of underground equipment, torpedoing or shooting of stuck equipment.

4. Increasing the flow rate or injectivity of wells: additional perforation, treatments with TGHW, SGGK.

Production geophysical work in OAO "Surgutneftegaz" is carried out by the "Surgutneftegeofizika" trust, as well as research parties of TsNIPR in NGDU according to the applications of TsDNG or TsKRS. To perform geophysical work, the Customer, along with the application, provides an act on the readiness of the well for research.

Before carrying out geophysical work in oil wells, a reservoir is installed on the well that is sufficient to collect oil from the sealing gland chamber. All gate valves on the well must be in good condition, open and close freely by hand, serviceable pressure gauges are installed. The wellhead must be equipped with a lubricator and a research site. Injection wells 12 hours before the start of the study should be stopped.

Otherwise, the Customer shall reimburse Surgutneftegeofizika Trust for the costs of the party in cases of downtime or accidents that occurred through the fault of the Customer.

75 kilometers north of Surgut, geologists have discovered a new, richest deposit of natural fuel. The oil-bearing area was named after the famous geophysicist Viktor Fedorov. Subdivisions of Surgut geologists are concentrating large production forces on the area in order to quickly protect raw material reserves.

It soon became clear that the Fedorovskoye field is not just a giant, but a supergiant, according to the world classification. In terms of its reserves, it is the second in the country, second only to Samotlor, and in the world it is in the top ten.

The area of the field is 1887 square kilometers, the depth of productive formations ranges from 1860 to 2900 meters. For more than thirty years of operation, more than half a billion tons of oil have already been extracted from its bowels.

But the uniqueness of the Fedorovskoye deposit lies not only and not so much in the huge area and colossal reserves of "black gold". The main feature of this underground pantry is its multilayer nature. It's a giant layer cake with 23 oil deposits. No other field in Western Siberia has such a level of oil content. Moreover, all these layers are different in structure, depth, oil saturation, reservoir properties and size. The spectrum is very wide: from purely oil and gas-oil to hard-to-recover. There are very thick with high permeability, such as, for example, B 10, from which the development of the Fedorovskoye field began, and such as A 4-8, approaches to which have been sought for many years.
